This is what I do when I'm bored.

I'm no seamstress.
Rather, I like to work with existing pieces
breathing new life into tired, dull garments.
The first dress, aqua green, was a long skirt
in its former life.
I started by shortening it in hopes of
getting more use out of it.
The color was a hard match, though
and there was so much material left
from the bottom half of the skirt
that I decided to create a bodice piece
out of the remaining fabric.

The second dress, mustard yellow
started its life more simply than the first.
The top and bottom pieces were blouse and skirt
but the skirt had a ruffle at the waist
and was also a tricky color to match.
I found a blouse that was a close enough match

and attached the two pieces
also converting the skirt closure to
a continuation of the blouse's button placket
instead of the original side zipper.
This is all hand sewing, no pattern;
I prefer spur-of-the-moment projects.
